Lessons from our garden

This year Matt and I decided to start a garden! We had been thinking about it for a while but this year we finally put in the work to get it started. It has been such a fun project for us to grow and learn with and we love it! Right now we haveeee: blueberries, strawberries, zucchinis, tomatoes, okra, carrots, arugula, paw paw tress (the only tropical fruit tree that can grow in MO) and little gem lettuce! Without getting too corny (heh, garden puns), here are a few things I've learned because of the garden:

  1. Gardening will teach you how rewarding patience can be. We started most of these plants from seed and its taken months for them to grow, but once they start producing fruit it is so rewarding to see!

  2. Growing your own food is a sure fire way to make sure you eat your veggies. Because we don't want our lettuce to go to waste, we've been making way more salads and loving it! I swear, when you grow something it just tastes better :)

  3. Little critters like bunnies and squirrels will show you just how creative you can be!

  4. Gardening demonstrates the importance of being present in the moment. It forces you to pay attention to the task at hand and I find that to be a necessary and hugely beneficial practice.

Anyway here are a few fun pictures I snapped!
